Le Flore

There’s something about this time of year, when the leaves start to fall, the light fades sooner, and the air turns crisp that makes us crave coziness. I always long for nature in the fall. Walking through the forest, hearing the leaves crackle under my feet, taking a deep breath of fresh air. And nothing makes me happier than finding a beautiful, cozy place in the woods that invites you to slow down and enjoy the season.

Nestled right in the middle of the Bois de la Cambre is Le Flore. This magical spot is surrounded by trees, garden lights, the soft glow of candles, and an inviting interior. Its fairytale setting makes it the perfect place to embrace the changing season. Although it’s deep in the forest, a road leads directly to the entrance — ideal if walking through the forest trails isn’t an option. Parking is available on the street.

We were invited to try their new Wednesday Tapas Nights. Simple yet delicious dishes meant for sharing, paired with a lovely list of cocktails and wines. A few highlights I’d highly recommend: the salmon gravlax with its delicate dill sauce, the burrata with a generous spoon of pesto rosso, and the pinsa topped with prosciutto. We tried the basil smash and the spritz — both refreshing and perfectly balanced. Great music played in the background, blending with the happy hum of conversations all around.

Running this little gem are sister and brother Antoinette and Charlie de Launoit, along with Charlie’s longtime friend and associate Louis Stulmeijer. You may have heard of them before — they’re the creative minds behind several well-loved Brussels projects, including Schnock, Le Phare, and J’peux pas, j’ai raclette. One thing’s certain: these three know exactly how to create ambiance. Le Flore is the kind of place where you can spend hours, completely forgetting you’re still in Brussels. It’s a refreshing escape from the city buzz.

Le Flore has now been around for two years. They open their doors to the public on specific days, each with its own theme: Wednesday nights are for tapas, Fridays in the colder months are all about cheese fondue, and when the weather warms up, they fire up the BBQs. Weekends are dedicated to brunches, featuring a wide variety of international flavors.

The rest of the time, the venue is available for private events — and it truly lends itself perfectly to any celebration. I, for one, have a big birthday coming up (yep, the big 5-0!) and I’m thinking this might just be the perfect place to celebrate.

So next time you’re in the mood for something away from the busy streets — closer to nature, with good vibes and a cozy atmosphere — Le Flore is the place to be.
