In t’Spinnekopke

On a cold November evening, nothing warms the heart like a comforting meal at In t’ Spinnekopke. This historical establishment in the center of Brussels is one of those unique places where you feel like you're walking back in time. The old wooden doors and creaking floors add to the charm and welcome you in like a warm hug.

When I finished work yesterday, all I wanted was the comfort of mashed potatoes and gravy. And in these moments, nothing else will do! Luckily, they were able to accommodate us last minute (I recommend reserving as much as possible; they fill up quickly!). So, stoemp saucisse it was without hesitation. They've just switched to their winter stoemp of Brussels sprouts and pumpkin. Of course, topped with a thick slice of bacon and a lovely sausage, you just can't go wrong!

My partners in crime for the evening had slow-cooked beef cheeks (carbonnade/stoofvlees) made with Faro beer from Boon and wild duck breast with Belgian endives and potato croquettes. We also shared their famous bloempanch and rollmops. Bloempanch is a large black pudding, thinly sliced, pan-fried, and served with baked apples. In t’ Spinnekopke is one of the only restaurants that serve this Marolles specialty. And rollmops are pickled herring served with mustard sauce.

We continue to come back to In t’ Spinnekopke, not only for the food but also for the warm welcome from the staff, the cozy interior, and the friendly prices. A place you just want to come back to over and over again!
