L’Express

In my ongoing quest to discover the best affordable meals in Brussels, I'd like to introduce you to L'Express. Nestled on a charming side street just off the famous Grande Place, this restaurant is far more than your typical fast-food joint. L'Express specializes in Lebanese cuisine, serving up incredibly fresh and authentic dishes that stay true to their native roots.

With its beautiful terrace that offers a splendid view of the Grande Place, this gem might appear deceptively like one of the countless "Snacks" you'll encounter in Brussels. However, L'Express is a definite upgrade, offering friendly service. Step inside, and you'll find a comfortable dining area where attentive waitstaff are at your service.

One of my favorite dining companions when I visit L'Express is my dear friend Katrien Vantomme, who happens to be a sous-chef at Kline restaurant and a devoted vegetarian. Our go-to choice at L'Express is the "Mezze dégustation," a steal at only 30€ for two people. This delightful platter includes grilled halloumi in a Lebanese flatbread with garlic dip, baba ghanoush, houmous, falafels served with yoghurt sauce and pickled turnips, extra flatbread, and a scrumptious fattoush salad. The portion size is very generous, leaving you thoroughly satisfied. And, for the carnivores among us, fear not—L'Express also offers meat wraps and platters to suit your tastes.
