Kline

Nestled in the heart of the Dansaert neighborhood is Kline, situated on the ground floor of the high-end guest house Teddy Picker. This building underwent a complete renovation a few years ago, embracing a stunning brutalist architectural style. The restaurant seamlessly continues this brutalist concept, featuring concrete floors, walls, and clean lines.

I had the pleasure of sharing my table with my favorite vegan pastry chef, Malachy. Kline recently hosted a special vegan lunch for three days in January, in collaboration with Vegnanize Dansaert. Malachy went with the full vegan menu and I had an extra dish with scallops.

The comfortable seating at Kline invites you to indulge in their sharing dishes, where humble vegetables and forgotten ingredients are presented in their purest form. Vegetarians and vegans will be delighted by the variety of accessible dishes, with only a few meat and fish options available. The restaurant takes pride in sourcing everything locally, including saffron and mushrooms, right here in Belgium. Additionally, seating is available at the chef’s cooking station, providing a complete integrated experience.

Here are some must-try dishes: Brussels sprouts guacamole (11,80€), slow-cooked Brasvar pork belly (18,70€), North Sea scallops with carrot emulsion and Belgian saffron (16€), Brussels mushrooms with mole and salsa verde (16,30€), and Nao Chocolade sorbet with sea salt, thyme, and olive oil (10€).

Kline is sure to surprise you and undoubtedly excite your taste buds. Bravo to this incredibly dedicated team—Nico, Katrien, Tim, JP, Ben, Dom, Okan, and everyone else involved—thank you for staying true to your vision.
