Gringo
Last week, I got a message from Gringo:
“Hola! Do you want to try our tacos?”
Of course I do. Taco is a magic word—the kind that makes me instantly happy.
Now, Gringo isn’t the typical kind of spot I usually recommend. It’s not a classic sit-down restaurant. Here you order at the counter, get a buzzer, grab a table, and go pick up your food when it’s ready. I’ll admit, I was a bit unsure when I walked in.
But I ended up having such a good time.
The place has a youthful, energetic vibe—think club‑style music, chatting and laughter, tables full of friends out for a fun night. It’s casual, vibrant, and buzzing with life.
And the food? Really good.
The 3‑taco combo with a side is just 16 €, making it super affordable. The tacos were tasty, the sides generous, and everything came out fresh and fast. Even better: their recipes come straight from their chef in Mexico, bringing authentic flavors to the heart of Brussels.
The taco selection is compact but creative—meat and veggie options that go beyond the usual suspects. You can mix and match:
Al Pastor: spicy marinated pork, pineapple, onion & cilantro
Suadero: slow-cooked marinated beef, onion & cilantro
Hot Honey Milaneso: breaded chicken with hot honey, cucumber, onion & scallions
Aubergine (vegan): roasted aubergine with miso, sesame & scallions
Tofu Al Pastor (vegan): spicy marinated tofu, pineapple, onion & cilantro
Bonus points: every table comes with a salsa guide and three signature sauces.
You’ve got:
Salsa Gringo – a smoky-sweet mix with salsa macha, tahini, coconut oil & maple syrup
Salsa Verde – avocado, tomatillos & chili serrano
Salsa Macha – the spicy one, with guajillo, arbol chili & peanuts
And to top it off, Gringo makes their own pre-mixed cocktails, served in cool branded cans. Think spicy margaritas, negronis, and other fun twists—ready to pop open at your table. It’s the perfect drink format for a place that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Oh, and there’s more—Gringo runs a Taco Lovers Club that’s all about celebrating quality, good vibes, and community. They host regular events—vinyl‑Sunday hangs, live DJ nights, and collabs with the local scene. You can sign up to stay in the loop on their website.
If I ever needed to take a teenager or a group of young adults out for a fun evening without breaking the bank, this would definitely be our first stop—especially if we can catch one of the Taco Lovers Club events.
